Thoughts for Thursday

Thursday seems to be the day that I think a lot about how my life is going. Mainly because most of what I have to get done in a week has happened. For instance, FHE, Mutual, volunteering at the school, Joyschool(when I teach), etc. I've noticed the past few weeks that my thoughts on Thursdays have been disgruntled ones. Why you may say? My planning abilities have gone haywire! If I had observed my calendar better, I wouldn't have allowed all these activities to end up in the same week, not to mention the things that surprise you (Phoebe being sick):

1. Joyschool

2. Kindergarten concert for the Fairy tale plays

3. Play practice for Honoring Womanhood Night

4. YW camp fundraiser-Rummage/Bake sale

5. Taking care of the neighbors fish and dog

6. Friend sleep over Friday night.

I mean really? Was I asleep at the Joyschool planning meeting? I could have realized this week would be busy and thus trade my week to teach. I could have told people no, I can't take care of your animals, I can't even have clean dishes for my kids this week. On and on... could'a, should'a, would'a. So, all you perfect planners out there, does or did this happen to you? How did you fix it? I know I need to be more observant and say no, but, how? Sorry, just had to vent my thoughts. It makes me feel better:)

Whew, that IS a lot on your plate! And I'm sure it seems like even more with poor Phoebe not feeling well. I'll send you my thoughts in an email. Just hang in there and remember it will all be over soon!

Yeah...that's a lot. Let me remind you of my conversation with John (on my blog)...pizza doesn't need clean plates! :) I hope next week will be calmer! No advise from me...I do this to myself too.

I, too, do this A LOT to myself. However, I have learned to say no. It was hard at first, but I feel so much better ( less stressed and panicky ) when I do say no, that it makes it okay in my mind. Does that make since?? Let me know if you ever need anything! I love your kids!!

You make me tired just reading all that. I hope you have a good flex weekend.

It happens to the best of us.

Just practice saying in the Mirror, "Regretfully Da'ling I've got too much on my plate as it is, but thanks for asking". (in an english accent.) I used to have this problem too. Weeks like you have had kind of teach you to say no and guard your time better. You just get better and better at it as you go.

I do this all the time, too! Saying no is definitely a survival skill. I like to think of it as protecting my young. They are not young for very long and the more things I cram into my days, the less time I get to spend with them, so I'm very protective of "their" time. Plus it helps to have a beautiful girl in a wheelchair because people don't usually ask me to do much and I can volunteer for only the things I'd like to do! ;D lol Not that I'm offering that as a solution, just a thought I just had. I've often wondered on the phenomenon of so many things falling into the same time slots. Do the stars all align or what? Hang in there, sometimes us SAHMs (stay at home Moms) need to take "personal days" every now and then, too! ;D
